The court did not allow the vicar of Sviatogorsk Lavra to participate in online sessions

On August 27, 2024 in Slavyansk city district court of Donetsk region held a regular preparatory hearing on the case of the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church vicar of the Sviatogorsk Lavra Metropolitan Arseniy of Sviatogorsk. Participation in the meeting took as well as a new lawyer of the bishop, who requested additional time for full familiarization with the case. About it reports the official site of the Svyatogorsk Lavra.
Despite the fact that the bishop is held in a pre-trial detention center in Dnepropetrovsk, from which to Slaviansk must get more than 9 hours, the judges did not allow the Metropolitan to take part in court hearings online via video link. The judges did not take into account the changing operational situation at the front, because of which the life of Metropolitan Arseny and other participants in the trial is at risk. The next court hearing in the case of Metropolitan Arseny should be held on September 5.
We shall remind you that on August 28, 2024, the Sumy Court of Appeal satisfied the complaint of the prosecutor of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office and reopened the criminal case against Metropolitan Yevlogy (Hutchenko), the administrator of the Sumy diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The previous criminal proceedings were closed in May 2024, which the prosecution was dissatisfied with.
