We will remind, earlier we reported that the All-Ukrainian Council of churches and religious organizations (AUC&RO) published a joint statement on the fact of the meeting with the head of state Vladimir Zelensky. The All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations said that they fully support Zelenskyy’s initiative to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by adopting the scandalous draft law No 8371.
The All-Ukrainian Council of Churches met with Michael Pompeo
On September 15, 2024, the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations met with the 70th Secretary of State of the United States of America, Michael Pompeo. The meeting, in addition to representatives of the AUCCRO, was also attended by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Olena Kovalska and Head of the State Service for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience Viktor Yelensky. This is reported by the official website of the AUCCRO.
“Representatives of churches and religious organizations thanked M. Pompeo for the assistance provided by the United States to Ukraine in its war for independence and spoke about the religious persecution of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and the destruction of religious buildings of various denominations by Russian aggressors. The members of the AUCCRO informed M. Pompeo about the state of religious freedom in Ukraine under martial law, about the spiritual and humanitarian activities of denominations during the war, as well as about topical issues of church-state relations, in particular, the status of clergy, which the Council of Churches is addressing in dialogue with the authorities of Ukraine,” — the statement reads.
