Lotysh complained that the OCU is forced to pay the state for staying in the Kyiv Cave Monastery

Avrahamiy Lotysh, an employee of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve and, at the same time, the abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery of the OCU, complained that the OCU is forced to pay rent for staying in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Lotysh claims that the “OCU monastery” pays about 40 thousand hryvnias per month for the use of the Lavra premises. He said this in an interview with Pryamyy TV channel.

“It is up to 40 thousand hryvnias. This is not every day. On weekends. And on holidays. You know, it’s a little strange, because everyone says “Ukrainian Lavra”, “Ukrainian Church”, but in this case, are there certain shortcomings, because I always emphasize and say how we can develop as the Ukrainian Lavra, as Ukrainian monasticism, when the conditions are not the same as in the Moscow Patriarchate, I will tell you frankly. They are now the masters there, and when I am asked why the brethren of the UOC-Moscow Patriarchate do not come to you. They say to me: “Bishop, I’m sorry, but your conditions are more unfavorable than ours. So for now, we will stay where we were,” — said Lotysh.

As reported, the Ukrainian edition of Gazeta.ua published a report on the life of the OCU monks on the territory of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. It is reported that representatives of the OCU, in the number of “about ten people,” live in the former residence of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which the state took away from the UOC. A young man named “Abbot Vasyl” gave the publication a tour of the stolen premises of the Lavra.
