OCU supporters seize last UOC church in Irpin

On September 19, 2024, supporters of the OCU, with the support of local authorities, seized the St. Nicholas Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Irpin, Kyiv region. It is reported that this was the last church of the UOC in the city. Information about the seizure was published by the Dozor Telegram channel.

According to the Irpin dean Archpriest Alexander Fedorichko, the criminals cut the locks on the church and said that it now belongs to the OCU.

“It seems that the raiders and activists of Epiphany’s structure have nothing sacred left. This temple was built by the late Fr Vladimir Bormashev, who died during Russian shelling in Irpin at the beginning of a full-scale war. The last church in the deanery was taken away from the UOC believers!”, — the message says.

On October 25, 2023, in the city of Irpin, Kyiv region, at the initiative of the local city council, the Holy Trinity Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was “transferred” to the OCU.
