The Pope emphasized that no church in the world should be banned, as it performs prayer directed against evil and unrighteousness. In his turn, Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained such a reaction of the Pontiff by “Russian influence”.
Zelensky held a meeting with Pope Francis
On October 11, 2024, Vladimir Zelensky met with the head of the Roman Catholic Church Pope Francis at the Vatican. In addition to Francis, Zelensky held a meeting with Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin and Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Vatican News reported.
“The talks at the Secretariat of State focused on the martial situation and humanitarian situation in Ukraine, as well as ways to end the war and lead to a just and stable peace in the country. In addition, some issues concerning religious life in the country were addressed,” — the release said.
