The hierarch of the Bulgarian Church participated in the consecration of the church by the bishops of the Metropolis of Bessarabia in Moldova

On October 10, 2024, in the village of Gotesti, Cantemir region of Moldova, the hierarchs of the Metropolitan Church of Bessarabia of the Romanian Orthodox Church consecrated a church in honor of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius of Solun. Bishop Paisius of Sinai, bishop of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, took part in the events. About it reports the official website of the Romanian Patriarchate.
“The consecration took place on the 250th anniversary of the transfer of the relics of St. Demetrius the New to Bucharest. The service was performed by Bishop Ignatius of Khush, as well as Bishop Veniamin of South Bessarabia, Bishop Paisii of Sinai, patriarchal auxiliary, and Macarius Glavinitski, auxiliary to Bishop Metropolitan Naum of Ruzsk. Bishop Paisius delivered a congratulatory message of Patriarch Daniel,” – stated in the message.
Earlier, the hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, Archbishop Markell of Balti and Falesti, published an appeal to the clergy and flock of the diocese entrusted to him, in which he described the attitude of the OCM to the non-canonical decisions of the Romanian Patriarchate, adopted at the last synod of this Church. The bishop believes that the Romanian Church has no right to act on the territory of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, using the Metropolitanate of Bessarabia.
