The hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Filaret of Lviv and Galicia, is visiting Greece. On November 13, 2024, the hierarch was seen at a service at the Cathedral of St. Gregory Palamas in Thessaloniki. This is reported by the Telegram channel “About the Church and About People”.
“According to our information, Metropolitan Filaret of Lviv and Galicia is currently on a visit to Greece. Yesterday he was seen at a service in the Cathedral of St. Gregory Palamas in Thessaloniki. A few months ago, he met with the Primate of the Church of Cyprus, Archbishop George. Officially, nothing is said about these meetings. However, we can assume that they are by no means private (especially given the relations between the UOC, the Cypriot and Greek Churches). It is quite possible that we are talking about establishing contacts, with the prospect of further normalization of relations,” the Telegram channel reports.
As reported, on April 13, 2024, the bishop of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Filaret of Lviv and Galicia, met with the hierarch of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Timothy of Debar and Kichiv.
