Phanar and Vatican continue dialogue to establish “full communion”

On November 30, 2024, a delegation of the Roman Catholic Church visited the Patriarchate of Constantinople, where it took part in the celebrations dedicated to the day of memory of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called. The Vatican delegation handed over to the head of Phanar a message on behalf of Pope Francis, in which the pontiff called for tireless work to establish full communion between the two ancient thrones. This was reported by Vatican News.
“I have repeatedly expressed my desire to be able to celebrate this event (the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council — ed.) with you, and I sincerely thank all those who have already begun to work to make this possible. This anniversary will concern not only the two ancient Thrones that took an active part in the Council, but also all Christians who continue to profess their faith in the words of the Nicene-Constantinople Creed,” — the Pontiff emphasized.
Earlier, the head of the Church of Constantinople, Patriarch Bartholomew, announced the need to unite the date of Easter celebration with Christians of the Western rite starting in 2025.
