"This hall is not a temple": the reserve commented on the culinary performance in the Refectory Church of the Lavra

The National Historical and Architectural Reserve “Kyiv Cave Monastery” commented on the holding of shows and events in the Refectory Church of the Holy Dormition Kyiv Cave Monastery. The reserve stated that it sees no problem in organizing any cultural and educational projects in the Refectory Church, as this building “is not a church.” The position of the reserve is posted on Facebook.

“This hall is not a church and has always been used for celebrations: spiritual, cultural, and educational. This fully complies with the current legislation and requirements for the operation of historical and cultural monuments, and does not harm the painting of the 20th century,” — the institution said.

In addition, the reserve believes that the Russian media use criticism of initiatives to hold events in the Refectory Church of the Kyiv Cave Monastery to present Ukraine in an unattractive light. In this way, Russia wants to “sow division in Ukrainian society.”

“Russia and pro-Russian forces systematically use the Lavra in their propaganda and IPSO to stir up controversy and division among Ukrainians. We urge everyone to check the information and be attentive to the provocations often spread by the enemy. The administration of the Reserve is always ready for an open dialogue and will continue to work to ensure that this sacred space remains a place of spiritual unity, preservation of historical heritage and cultural enrichment,” — the Reserve added.

As reported, on December 13, 2024, 1+1 TV channel aired the Real Stories TV show, filmed on November 29 in the Refectory Church of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. During the program, showman and chef Yevhen Klopotenko cooked various dishes and talked about the traditions of Ukrainian cuisine.
