A concert with folk songs and dances was held in the Refectory Church of the Kyiv Cave Monastery

No sooner had the scandal over the cooking show subsided than the Ministry of Culture organized a new blasphemous performance in the Refectory Church of the Kyiv Cave Monastery. This time, the National Reserve organized the ethnic festival “Christmas — New Style,” during which the concert troupe of the Kalyna folklore ensemble performed folk songs and dances in the church. The concert was held on Sunday, December 15, 2024. This was reported on the Facebook page of the ensemble, which fulfilled the blasphemous order of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
Although there are no additional comments to the post — except for the date and title of the concert — on the page, the attached photos and videos of people dressed in national costumes singing, playing musical instruments and performing folk dances speak eloquently about what happened. All this is happening against the backdrop of iconography depicted on the walls of the church. Obviously, the organizers of the concert were not embarrassed by the scandal surrounding the culinary show in the Refectory Church of the Kyiv Cave Monastery, which was conducted by Ukrainian showman Yevhen Klopotenko, who later apologized for what happened.
It is worth noting that the misuse of religious buildings taken away from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church causes indignation not only among representatives of the UOC, but even among Roman Catholics. Recently, the head of the Kyiv-Zhytomyr Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church, Vitaliy Kryvytsky, criticized the holding of various shows and performances in the Refectory Church of the Kyiv Cave Monastery. Krivitsky compared what is happening to the times of communist atheism, when churches were turned into museums, warehouses, and other premises for misuse. In addition, he drew attention to the fact that there are still a huge number of Catholic churches in Ukraine that are not used for their intended purpose.
