Resident of Rivne region tried for criticizing OCU on social media

A resident of the Rivne region was charged with criticizing the OCU on the social network Facebook. According to the investigation, the man spread offensive comments about the OCU in one of the thematic groups. This is reported by the regional publication Rivne Vechirne.
“In Volodymyrets, a trial was held over a local resident who left offensive comments about the OCU in one of the Facebook groups. According to the verdict, the accused “spread propaganda of the exclusivity of the UOC (MP),” of which he is a parishioner. The man pleaded guilty and signed an agreement with the prosecutor. He was fined 3400 UAH for his actions,” — the statement said.
As reported, on December 3, 2024, a court hearing was held in the Dolyna District Court of the Kirovohrad region, which considered a case of violation of the rights and freedoms of citizens based on their religious beliefs. The reason for the hearing was the actions of a local resident who, according to the investigation, insulted the OCU and supporters of this organization on social networks.
