Monks of the Kyiv Cave Monastery will not be evicted until the end of the courts

On January 27, 2025, the Northern Economic Court of Appeal of Kyiv ruled to ban the eviction of monks of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The court ordered to suspend consideration of the lawsuit to evict the monastery’s brethren until another court case is finally resolved on the lawsuit regarding the legality of the termination of the contract for the use of the monastery’s premises. This was reported by the Lavra’s lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman.
«Dear friends, good news from the Northern Economic Court of Appeal! The consideration of the case on the eviction of the monastery was suspended until the case on the unilateral termination of the contract for the use of the Lower Lavra is fully considered! Thank God for everything!» — the lawyer said.
Earlier, we reported that the Accounting Chamber of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine published an audit report, according to which the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine did not fully ensure the procedure for the targeted use of budget funds for the organization of the work of the National Historical and Architectural Reserve Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. It is reported that out of the 556.4 million hryvnias allocated by the state, the reserve used 29.5 million “uneconomically and inefficiently” in 2020-2023.
