OCU to appropriate Holy Spirit Skete Monastery in Pochayiv

The OCU is going to appropriate the complex of premises of the Pochayiv Holy Spirit Monastery, a clone monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This conclusion follows from the decision of the organization’s Synod to register a clone legal entity with the same name and address as the UOC monastery. This is reported by the organization’s website.

“At the request of His Eminence Nestor, Metropolitan of Ternopil and Kremenets, the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine resolves:

1. to establish the religious organization “Pochayiv Holy Spirit Monastery of the Ternopil Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine” as part of the Ternopil Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

2. To adopt the Statute of the religious organization “Pochayiv Holy Spirit Monastery of the Ternopil Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine,” – the Synod’s decision reads.

Earlier, we reported that the Western Commercial Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the first instance to transfer the complex of premises of the Pochayiv Holy Spirit Monastery-Skete of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the state. The court rejected the appeal of the UOC monastic community, thus satisfying the demands of the Ternopil Regional Council.
