Trump announces the creation of the Commission on Religious Freedom and the Office of Faith-Based Activities

During his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., U.S. President Donald Trump announced the creation of the Commission on Religious Freedom and the Office of Faith-Based Services at the White House. According to Trump, these institutions will protect Christians not only within the United States but also around the world. This is reported by the Voice of America.

“From the earliest days of our republic, faith in God has always been the main source of strength that fills the heart of our country. We must bring back religion… America is and will forever be one country (governed by) God,” – said President Donald Trump, speaking on Thursday at the National Prayer Breakfast in the Capitol.

Trump also said that he would later sign a decree instructing the head of the Department of Justice Pam Bondi to create a task force to combat anti-Christian bias in the federal government.

“The task force will be tasked with immediately ending all forms of anti-Christian attacks and discrimination in the federal government, including the Department of Justice… IRS, FBI, and other agencies,” – Trump explained.

Earlier, the head of the international human rights company Amsterdam & Partners LLP, Robert Amsterdam, who represents the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, said that the previous US government had funded a campaign to persecute the UOC. The lawyer added that the persecution of the UOC helps Vladimir Zelensky retain power by distracting society from political problems with the topic of banning the Church.
