Greek theologian calls on Local Churches to defend UOC

Priest, theologian and publicist of the Greek Orthodox Church Anastasios Gotsopoulos called on the Local Orthodox Churches to speak out in defense of the UOC. The priest noted that in a situation where even the Church of England has drawn attention to the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the silence of the Orthodox world is criminal. This is reported by the UOJ.
“We call on and ask the church leadership of the Orthodox Churches to put aside considerations of ethnophyletism, rise above the situation and support the persecuted canonical Church of Ukraine and millions of its believers by all means. It is impossible for the Church of England to raise a voice of protest while Orthodox leaders remain silent,” – the theologian said.
Earlier, we reported that abbots, hegumen, monks and nuns of 39 monasteries in Greece and Athos signed a statement in support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The text mentions the facts of the persecution of the Church and criticizes Law No. 3894, which is aimed at banning the activities of the UOC.
