“His life goal is to destroy the Church”: Amsterdam speaks about Yelensky's role in banning UOC

The head of the international human rights company Amsterdam & Partners LLP, Robert Amsterdam, who represents the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, in an interview with Tucker Carlson, spoke about the role of the head of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience, Viktor Yelensky. The lawyer noted that before taking up his position in the Ukrainian government, Yelensky was a communist anti-religious propagandist and wrote books on atheistic topics. The interview was published on Tucker Carlson’s YouTube channel.
“In the Ukrainian government, there is one person named Yelensky, who has been leading the process of destroying this Church (UOC — ed.) for years. His life goal is to destroy the Church. I am sure that he cooperates with the SSU and leads them to priests who are then imprisoned. These are the priests I am working with now. This man has written several very interesting books. He wrote them back in the days of the USSR. He wrote a book about Zionism and clericalism. And this person is now the head of the Ukrainian Department for Religious Freedom. This guy received an honorary seat at the Conference on Religious Freedom in Washington,” — Amsterdam said.
Earlier, we reported that the US State Department is preparing to impose personal sanctions against Ukrainian MPs and officials who initiated the process of banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by adopting the scandalous Law No. 3894. The list includes six Ukrainian top officials who are trying to ban the UOC the most.
