“The summit on religious freedom in Washington was led by the Ukrainian government” - Amsterdam

Robert Amsterdam, the head of the international human rights company Amsterdam & Partners LLP, who represents the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, said in an interview with Tucker Carlson that Ukrainian government agencies were actively involved in organizing the Religious Freedom Summit held in Washington in early February. Amsterdam pointed out that the panel on Ukrainian issues was strictly moderated by representatives of the Ukrainian Embassy of the United States, who initially did not even want to allow the lawyer to participate. The interview was published on Tucker Carlson’s YouTube channel.

“I recently took part in the Religious Freedom Summit. It was a conference on religious freedom that was largely run by the Ukrainian government. It took place in Washington, DC. My team barely managed to get permission to participate in this event. We were not allowed to attend last year. This time we were allowed in,” — said Robert Amsterdam.

The lawyer added that he was allocated only five minutes to speak, and he was allowed to the rostrum only in conjunction with a representative of another denomination, who later parried his theses.

“And this time, when I came to this conference on religious freedom, I was allowed to speak only in conjunction with a priest of another church (most likely, it was Kirill Govorun — ed.) and I was given only five minutes to present my opinion,” — the lawyer added.

The defrocked former cleric of the Russian Orthodox Church, Kirill Govorun, spoke about his participation in the International Summit on Religious Freedom, which took place in Washington. The ex-archimandrite said that he spoke after the lawyer of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Robert Amsterdam, and was allegedly able to refute the arguments presented by the human rights activist in defense of the UOC.
