We are investigating the activities of the UOC abroad, - SSU Head

The head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, said that the agency is investigating the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church abroad. The official said that in this regard, the SSU is working closely with the special services of other states, and the EU has allegedly even imposed sanctions against the UOC. He said this in a commentary to the publication “Left Bank”.

“They (sanctions – ed.) have been implemented in Europe, here. But this work is ongoing. In particular, the Czech Republic is the initiator. And we worked together with our Czech colleagues. I am continuing this work. This is indeed a top priority. At the same time, we remain faithful to the principle of freedom of conscience and religion. There can be no question about it. If the “ears” of the Russian special services are peeking out, we will work,” – Malyuk said.

It is worth noting that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has no parishes in the Czech Republic, as the country is the canonical territory of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia. In this regard, it is not entirely clear against whom the SSU is working in the Czech Republic.
