Abducted on the street on February 20, 2025, by representatives of the territorial recruitment center, Archdeacon Andriy Batsula, a cleric of the Holy Trinity Kytaiv Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, was beaten at the military commissariat, forcing him to sign a consent to mobilization into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For five days there has been virtually no communication with him. This was reported by First Cossack.
“According to our information, violence was used against the protodeacon of the Kyiv diocese of the UOC, Andriy Batsula. The clergyman was abducted by the TCC employees on February 20 in Kyiv. After that, Fr. Andriy, according to our information, was transferred to the Desna training center. The archdeacon did not get in touch for a long time. The priest refused to sign the documents offered by the TRC. And then they began to beat him. Fr. Andriy was forced to sign. The protodeacon managed to report the violence. After that, communication with him was interrupted again,” — the media reported.
