"Ukrainian God-fighters are preparing an evil fate for themselves": ROC comments on “revision” of relics of Kyiv Caves saints

Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, an advisor to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, commented on the creation of a commission by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine to “revise” the imperishable relics of the Kyiv Cave Saints. The priest pointed out that the Ukrainian government, acting aggressively against the UOC, is like the atheist communists who used similar methods during the persecution of the Orthodox Church at the beginning of the last century. He said this in a commentary to RIA News.
“The crazy god-fighters who now reign in the anciently glorious city of Kyiv, the mother of Russian cities, have become pathetic imitators of the demonic anger of the godless rulers of the USSR a century ago. They hope to humiliate the Church of Christ with the help of a new campaign to “uncover the relics,” and perhaps cynically profit from the centuries-old heritage of Holy Rus. They will not succeed. The Church is invincible, and the “gates of hell” that have been opened wide in Ukraine today will not overcome it. This is what Christ promised. But the persecutors of Orthodox monasticism are preparing an evil fate for themselves. God is their judge,” said Archpriest Nikolai Balashov.
Earlier, we reported that the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine formed a special commission to “check the relics” of the Kyiv Caves Saints, who rest in the Holy Dormition Kyiv Caves Monastery. It is not known what kind of “inspection” the commission will conduct, since, according to the Ministry, the results of its work will be classified.
