“The church issue is the card Putin will play when he sits down to play with Trump” - media

Mykola Pidvezianyi, editor-in-chief of the popular Ukrainian online publication Glavkom, believes that the Ukrainian church crisis will be the subject of peace talks between Russia and the United States. This is why, according to the journalist, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is in no hurry to unite with the OCU. He wrote about this in an author’s column on the publication’s website.

“As of today, there is no information about any new transition of communities (in Kyiv — ed.) that would take place in 2024, in particular after the adoption of the law on the “ban on the Moscow Church”. That is, they are all waiting. You know what they are waiting for. As Glavkom has written, the church issue is the card that Putin will draw when he sits down to play with Trump. No wonder the Russian Foreign Ministry has prepared a 60-page report “on the genocide of Moscow Orthodoxy in Ukraine” that was put on the table of the Americans,” — wrote the editor-in-chief of Glavkom.

Earlier, the defrocked former cleric of the Russian Orthodox Church, Kirill Govorun, said that the topic of the Ukrainian religious conflict will be 100% the subject of future peace talks between the United States and Russia. That is why, according to Govorun, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church does not make any sudden moves, remaining in the status it is in now.
