Head of Phanar is going to resolve contradictions with the Vatican in the next few years

Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople has suggested that the contradictions between the Orthodox and Catholic Churches that have accumulated since 1054 will be resolved in the next few years. It is reported that the starting point should be a joint celebration of Easter, which in 2025, for Orthodox and Catholics, will be held on the same day. This is reported by CNA.
“Of course, problems have been accumulating for thousands of years. But we are full of hope that in a few years they will be resolved,” — Patriarch Bartholomew said during an audience in Istanbul on March 12 with a pilgrimage group from the German Union of the Holy Land.
In turn, the publication claims that Pope Francis plans to attend the celebrations on the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council, which are scheduled to be held in Istanbul this year.
“I plan to go there,” — Pope Francis said, noting that the Council of Nicea ”is a milestone on the path of the Church, as well as of all humanity, because faith in Jesus, the Son of God, who became flesh for our sake and our salvation, was formulated and professed as a light that illuminates the meaning of reality and the destiny of all history.”
Earlier, we reported that Pope Francis approved a three-year plan to reform the Roman Catholic Church. The document will address a number of issues related to the liberalization of church-society relations. In particular, the Vatican plans to resolve the discussion on the possibility of women receiving the diaconate, which began in 2016.
