OCU outraged that Metropolitan Theodosius was released from nightly house arrest

The Cherkasy Diocese of the OCU published a message expressing outrage at the fact that the court released the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv, from punishment in the form of nightly house arrest. The organization believes that such a court decision contributes to the spread of the Russian World ideology. The message was published by the press service of the Cherkasy Diocese of the OCU.
«It has become known that the court canceled the round-the-clock house arrest of the head of the Cherkasy Diocese of the UOC-MP, Theodosius (Snigirev). He is suspected of inciting religious hatred and justifying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine. Now the Metropolitan can move freely at any time and hold services. This decision causes deep indignation, because it sets a dangerous precedent — a person who openly promoted Russian narratives is able to again influence believers and spread pro-Russian propaganda,» — the OCU wrote.
The organization called on the “competent authorities” to help review the court’s decision on Metropolitan Feodosiy. The OCU considers this topic a matter of national security.
«Despite his house arrest, he continued to spread destructive narratives through the diocese’s YouTube channel. And now he is actually returning to active ministry. This is not just a matter of religion. This is a matter of national security! In times of war, such decisions are unacceptable. We call on the competent authorities to review the case and take all necessary measures to protect Ukrainian society from information sabotage disguised as “religious activity.” Ukraine is fighting for its freedom, and we have no right to allow hostile ideology to undermine our unity from within!», — the organization added.
We recall that on March 18, 2025, the Sosnovsky District Court of Cherkasy held a regular court hearing in one of the cases brought against the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv. The court took into account the opinion of the defense and released the bishop from serving nightly house arrest, releasing him on his own recognizance.
