MP speaks about UOC monasteries in Volyn, which the state plans to take away from the Church

Ukrainian MP Ihor Huz has expressed his intention to take away a number of monasteries in Volyn Oblast from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church after the state completes the expropriation of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the UOC. The next objects of expropriation will be the Holy Dormition Monastery in the village of Zymno and the Holy Dormition Monastery in the village of Nyzkynychi. He said this in an interview with Radio BUG.
“First, we will put a full stop to the issue of the Holy Dormition Cathedral, and then everything is very simple. In order to start the same thing with the two monasteries in question (the Holy Dormition Monastery of Zymnia and the Holy Dormition Monastery of Nyzykynychi — ed.), it is necessary to cancel the order of the previous head of the Regional State Administration, Mr. Pohulyayko, who extended the lease agreements for more than fifty years. This requires legal decisions, including those of the Volyn Regional State Administration. We will talk about this a little later, but we will definitely do so,” — the MP said.
Earlier, Ihor Huz spoke about the future of the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr-Volynskyi, which also houses the diocesan administration and theological school. According to the deputy, the public expects that after the court decision to transfer the complex to state ownership, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church should voluntarily leave the premises and not put up any resistance. Otherwise, the deputy threatens that he will attract several hundred people from the “patriotic public” who will ensure the transfer of the Cathedral to the state and the OCU.
