Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of UOC to leave state-expropriated cathedral on April 1 - media

The Diocese of Volodymyr-Volyn of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will leave the state-expropriated complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of Volodymyr-Volynskyi, which also houses the diocesan administration and theological school, on April 1, 2025. This was reported by the regional publication Bug, citing its own sources.

“According to the Bug, the executive service has already received documents for the eviction of representatives of the UOC-Moscow Patriarchate from the Assumption Cathedral in Volodymyr. Volodymyr Melnyk, the head of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the UOC-MP, is ready to leave the cathedral on April 1 with all his property. Accordingly, on April 1, the Ancient Volodymyr State Historical and Cultural Center will enter the premises of the cathedral,” — the media reported.

As reported, on March 12, 2025, the Rivne Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and upheld the decision of the first instance to expropriate the complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr-Volynskyi, which also houses the diocesan administration and theological school.
