We recall that on March 18, 2025, the Sosnovsky District Court of Cherkasy held a regular court hearing in one of the cases brought against the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv. The court took into account the opinion of the defense and released the bishop from serving nightly house arrest, releasing him on his own recognizance.
In Cherkasy, activists demand to return Metropolitan Theodosius to arrest
OCU activists held a rally near the Sosnovsky District Court of Cherkasy demanding the return of the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv, to the custody of the court. Adherents of the OCU believe that by releasing the bishop from nightly house arrest, he is able to “deny the aggression of the Russian Federation and incite hatred.” This is reported by the website 18000.
“Theodosius was not there, he can only travel around Ukraine and spread Russian propaganda, and he cannot appear in court because he is sick. The court released him from house arrest, because allegedly ‘the risks have decreased’. Although he was released before the holidays, so that he could apparently continue to deny Russia’s armed aggression and incite sectarian strife,” — said one of the protesters.
