Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of UOC denies information that the Church will leave the Cathedral on April 1 - media

The Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church denies the information published earlier in the regional media that the Church will leave the state-expropriated complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr-Volynskyi, which also houses the diocesan administration and theological school, on April 1, 2025. According to a competent representative of the diocese, this information is not true. This is reported by First Cossack.

“The competent representative of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the UOC denied the publication of the Bug newspaper that the diocese and the community of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the UOC surrender and are ready to leave the complex of premises of their cathedral at the request of state authorities. The diocese commented on this publication as “not true”. It should be reminded that the diocesan administration and theological school are located on the territory of the cathedral complex. That is, it is a serious blow to the foundations of the UOC in the Volyn region. And the church is still holding it, not giving in,” – the statement said.

As reported, on March 12, 2025, the Rivne Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and upheld the decision of the first instance to expropriate the complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr-Volynskyi, which also houses the diocesan administration and theological school.
