In Cherkasy region, OCU supporters disrupt UOC community service

On April 12, 2025, during the Divine Liturgy on Lazarus Saturday, supporters of the OCU staged a provocation against the community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi (Cherkasy region), which prayed in the open air in front of the gates of the church in honor of the Savior of the Man-made, which was sealed due to court proceedings. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Dozor on Pershyi Kozatskyi”.

“Today, one of the activists tried to organize a provocation. He stood next to the Throne and smoked. After that, Epiphany’s activist began to put out the candles. He put them out even after the believers lit them again. Believers of the UOC were forced to call the police, and only after that they were able to calmly complete the service,” – the channel reported.

Earlier, we reported that a volunteer from Lutsk, Serhiy Tymchuk, called for a religious purge of the clergy and believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the region. Tymchuk believes that if the Russian army came to Volyn, the Russian military would massacre “Ukrainian priests” (obviously, referring to representatives of the OCU – ed.). In addition, on August 24, 2024, Tymchuk, together with his accomplice, disrupted the service at the Peter and Paul Monastery of the UOC in the village of Svityaz, Volyn region, where they broke in during the Liturgy and began to harass the believers demanding that they leave the UOC and join the OCU.
