“The OCU has about nine thousand parishes,” Epiphany Dumenko

The head of the OCU, Epiphany Dumenko, said that the organization has about nine thousand parishes. At the same time, Dumenko complained that the organization lacks personnel for the chaplaincy service in the Armed Forces. He said this in a commentary to Ukrinform.

“Almost every one of our parishes — and today there are about nine thousand religious communities — has become a small humanitarian hub where we collect and distribute aid to those who need it. That is why we support the military in every possible way through chaplaincy. Today, there are various forms of chaplaincy — from social ministry to medical chaplains who work in hospitals and clinics, providing spiritual and moral support to the wounded and all those who need it. We are doing our best, although sometimes we do not have enough resources to reach everyone who needs this help,” — said Dumenko.

Earlier we reported that the notorious “chaplain” of the OCU Roman Hryshchuk, who oversees the raider seizures of churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Bukovyna, was awarded the All-Ukrainian Ogienko Prize. The raider became a laureate in the nomination “Socio-political and spiritual activity”.
