Head of the OCU prayed for the repose of Pope Francis

On April 21, 2025, the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Epiphaniy Dumenko, «memorial service (litia)» at the Cathedral of St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery for Pope Francis, who passed away on Bright Monday. This was reported by the official website of the OCU.

Together with Dumenko, various hierarchs of the OCU’s dioceses were present, as well as Avraamiy, the «abbot» of the Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

«May the Lord grant rest to the soul of Pope Francis in His heavenly dwellings, and may He have mercy and save us, for He is Good and the Lover of mankind,» the OCU website stated.

As a reminder, on April 21, 2025, on Bright Monday, Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88. The Pontiff departed to the Lord at 7:35 a.m. in his residence at Domus Santa Marta in the Vatican. The official announcement of his death was made by the Camerlengo of the Holy See, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, who said that «the Bishop of Rome Francis has returned to the house of the Father.»
