Yevhen Koshovyi Offends Believers with Provocative “Easter” Appearance

Renowned Ukrainian comedian and artistic director of “Kvartal 95” studio, Yevhen Koshovyi—who has repeatedly voiced criticism of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church—has once again sparked controversy with a provocative Easter video message. This was reported by Glavcom.

In a short clip posted on social media, Koshovyi appeared with his bald head covered in icing and colorful sprinkles, mimicking the look of a traditional Easter cake. Accompanying the image with the words: “Christ is risen. Wishing everyone a quiet holiday. May it not be ruined by the damned ‘rusnya’. Enjoy your Easter cake,” the comedian triggered a wave of criticism.

Social media users mostly reacted negatively, accusing Koshovyi of disrespecting religious tradition and sacred values.

Koshovyi has long been associated with criticism of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Against this backdrop, many viewers perceived the video not as a failed joke, but as a deliberate provocation aimed at discrediting church life and religious beliefs.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Ukrainians on the Resurrection of Christ, comparing Ukraine’s current struggle to Christ’s path to Golgotha, and stressing that the nation’s future depends on unity and collective prayer.
