"Fratricidal madness": Hierarch of the Phanar spoke out about the Russian-Ukrainian war

The head of the American Archdiocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, Archbishop Elpidophoros, called the war between Russia and Ukraine “fratricidal madness.” The hierarch noted that the war in Ukraine was caused by political ambitions, and the conflict itself is “unnecessary and heartless.” The words of the bishop were reported by the Orthodoxia News Agency.
“Not the whole world is so lucky, and we have brothers and sisters in the Middle East, Europe and Asia who are well aware of their weak position. And this is not necessarily a clash of civilizations — tough political ambitions are no less dangerous, as we see today in Ukraine, where this absolutely unnecessary and heartless conflict is flaring up in fratricidal madness,” — he said.
Earlier, Archbishop Elpidophoros criticized Epiphany Dumenko for violating certain clauses of the Tomos of autocephaly of the OCU. Elpidophoros noted that the head of the OCU turns a blind eye to the fact that representatives of the organization open parishes abroad, despite the fact that the Tomos explicitly prohibits the OCU from doing so.
