Another earthquake hits Mount Athos

On May 1, 2025, an earthquake struck the Holy Mount Athos again. Seismic activity was recorded in the southwest of the city of Uranopolis. The strength of the tremors amounted to 3.8 points on the Richter scale. This is reported by the UOJ website on Mount Athos.

It is reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was located just 12 kilometers south and southwest of Uranopolis, at a depth of 15.6 kilometers. So far, there has been no information about injuries or damage.

As a reminder, on August 8, 2024, two consecutive earthquakes of medium magnitude occurred on the Holy Mount Athos. According to available data, the monasteries located on the Holy Mountain were not damaged. There were also no casualties among the residents.
