"Again in bulk": In Bukovina, “chaplains” and OCU activists “transfer” two more UOC churches

On May 4, 2025, in the village of Banyliv-Pidhirnyi, Chernivtsi region, “chaplains” and supporters of the OCU, with the support of local authorities, held a “territorial meeting” at which they “transferred” two local churches of the UOC to the OCU. These are the churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in honor of the Ascension of the Lord and the Holy Spirit. The process was traditionally led by the odious “chaplain” of the OCU Roman Hryshchuk, as he announced on his Facebook page.

Judging by the photos and videos published by Grishchuk, the real parishioners of the mentioned churches did not participate in the “territorial meetings”. Thus, with the assistance of local authorities, the supporters of the OCU “in full force” voted to take away the Ascension and Holy Spirit churches of the UOC in the village of Banilov-Pidhirny from the people for whom they served as a place of prayer.

“Bukovyna is confidently moving towards liberation from Moscow’s spiritual occupation! Today, two Orthodox communities of Banyliv-Pidhirnyi voted at their meetings to leave the Moscow Patriarchate! The communities of the Church of the Ascension and the Church of the Holy Spirit have expressed a desire to join the Orthodox Church of Ukraine!”, — Hryshchuk wrote, commenting on the event.

Earlier we reported, that law enforcement agencies are not investigating the criminal activities of the OCU “chaplain” Roman Hryshchuk, who is involved in organizing the seizure of churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Bukovyna. A complaint was filed against Hryshchuk demanding that he be held accountable for inciting religious hatred against UOC believers, but the police are sabotaging the relevant measures in this direction. This was reported by the lawyer of the UOC, Archpriest Nikita Chekman.
