Chernihiv RSA announces number of UOC communities re-registered in favor of OCU

The Chernihiv Regional State Administration reported on how many religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church have been re-registered to the OCU in the region since 2019. This is reported by Suspilne.Chernihiv.

Since 2019, 32 religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church have been re-registered in favor of the OCU in the Chernihiv region. In 2019 and 2020, two religious communities were re-registered, in 2021 — none. In 2022 — 15; in 2023 — seven, in 2024 — eight.

“As of the beginning of April 2025, there are already three packages of documents on transitions. They are under consideration. This is a matter of a few weeks, and the charters will be registered. We advise communities if they need it. We give explanations on how to prepare the package in accordance with the law. But of course, we do not interfere in the process itself,” — says Oleksiy Stepanenko, a representative of the Department of Culture of the Regional State Administration.

Earlier, the Kirovohrad Regional Administration also reported the number of religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church that have been re-registered to the OCU since 2022. As of May 2025, the OCU network in the region includes 148 religious communities, and the UOC — 285. At the same time, only 15 communities of the UOC have undergone the re-registration process.
