OCU to develop ties with monastics of Local Orthodox Churches

The head of the OCU Synodal Commission on Monastic Affairs, Agapit Humeniuk, hopes that the organization will be able to develop ties with the monasteries of the Orthodox Local Churches. Humeniuk claims that the OCU already has a positive experience in relations with the monasteries of Athos. He said this in a comment to the media.

“We strive to strengthen ties between monasteries in Ukraine, to establish and strengthen relations with the monasticism of the Local Orthodox Churches and the Holy Mount Athos and to conduct joint pilgrimage trips for abbots and monks to monasteries of other Orthodox Churches,” – Humeniuk said.

Earlier, we reported that abbots, hegumen, monks and nuns of 39 monasteries in Greece and Athos signed a statement in support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The text mentions the facts of the persecution of the Church and criticizes Law No. 3894, which is aimed at banning the activities of the UOC.
