Patriarch of Antioch congratulates new Pope on his election

Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East sent greetings to the newly elected head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV. In a letter sent to the Pontiff, the Patriarch of Antioch called on the Pope to “pray for Syria and Lebanon.” The greeting was published on the website of the Patriarchate of Antioch.
«It was with great joy, excitement and hope that we received the news of your election to the Apostolic See of Rome. We send you our sincere congratulations in Christ, our Risen Lord. We pray that Christ the Almighty Redeemer will receive the soul of Pope Francis into His divine light. We pray from the bottom of our hearts that the All-Blessed Lord will grant us the grace to embody together the spirit of the Gospel that the world so desperately needs, and that He will make us ministers following His example. Pray, Your Holiness, for the Church of Antioch, as well as for Syria and Lebanon,» — the greeting reads.
