OCU supporters seize another UOC church in Bukovina

On May 20, 2025, in the village of Stari Broskivtsi, supporters of the OCU seized the local Peter and Paul Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Traditionally, the so-called chaplains of the OCU took part in the seizure of the UOC church. This was reported on the official Facebook page of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Diocese of the UOC.

It is reported that St. Peter and Paul Church of the UOC in the village of Stari Broskivtsi was seized in the presence of law enforcement officers. Moreover, supporters of the OCU planned to seize another local church on the same day — in honor of the Holy Great Martyr Paraskeva, but later abandoned this idea.

As reported, on May 19, 2025, supporters of the OCU held a secret meeting of the “territorial community” at which they voted to re-register three more urban religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in favor of the Ukrainian schism. According to media reports, the meeting was not announced, and the actual members of the UOC religious communities did not take part in the events.
