“We pray for our brothers and sisters in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church” - Antiochian Patriarch

The Primate of the Antiochian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Patriarch John X, expressed support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The First Hierarch drew attention to the ongoing persecution of the UOC and canonical Orthodoxy in general in Ukraine. He said this during a sermon on May 18, 2025, the press service of the Patriarchate of Antioch notes.
«We pray for our brothers and sisters throughout the Slavic world and ask the Merciful Lord to be with our brothers and sisters in faith who are suffering and paying for the global conflict with their lives. We pray for our brothers and sisters in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, who are paying for their faith by closing churches, confiscating property and banning religious rites,» — said Patriarch John.
Earlier, the Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Archbishop John, spoke about the Ukrainian church issue. The First Hierarch drew attention to the fact that the creation of the OCU split world Orthodoxy, noting that the Synod of the Albanian Church expressed its position on this issue and it remains unchanged.
