Events to mark third anniversary of UOC Council held in Feofaniya

On May 27, 2025, the capital’s St. Panteleimon Monastery in Feofaniya hosted celebrations on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Kharkiv Bishops’ Council and the third anniversary of the Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which was held in the monastery in 2022. The Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, led the festive service, after which he addressed the audience with an address published on May 20, 2025, during a conference held at the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary. This is reported by the official website of the UOC.

It is reported that at the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry delivered an address on the occasion of the third anniversary of the UOC Council in Feofaniya. In his speech, the Primate noted that after the Council, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has all the attributes of full canonical independence. The Archpastor expressed hope that the entire family of Autocephalous Local Churches will morally support our Church, approve our canonical independence and recognize it with a proper reward. His Beatitude called on the flock to intensify prayer for the Church, for our state of Ukraine, its people and soldiers.

In conclusion, the Primate reminded that today is the anniversary of two fateful events in the life of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – the 1992 Council in Kharkiv and the 2022 Council in Feofaniya. The Archpastor congratulated everyone on Easter and called on the faithful to receive God’s blessing.

Earlier, Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanych), Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, published his thoughts on the conciliar structure of the Church and decisions that could be fateful for the future of Ukrainian Orthodoxy. The hierarch compared past and present events, from which he concluded that only adherence to the canonical order will allow the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to withstand the difficult trials.
