The UOC-KP celebrated the sixth anniversary of the split in the OCU

On June 20, 2025, it will be six years since the «council» of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate was held under the leadership of the head of the UOC-KP, Filaret Denysenko. As stated in the address marking this occasion, “the Local Council at that time preserved the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate as a separate Church, independent of both Moscow and Constantinople.” The text of the address was published on the official website of the UOC-KP.

A separate critical assessment was given regarding the Tomos granted by Constantinople to the OCU. According to the participants of the “council,” it resulted in subordination to the Greek throne.

“The delegates of the council once again clearly declared their loyalty to the Kyiv church tradition and their unwavering will to have their own Patriarch… The idea of the Kyiv Patriarchate is not a fiction, but our historical right… The time will come when it will be properly honored,” the statement emphasizes.

The authors of the address also claimed that “over these six years, the Kyiv Patriarchate has endured many trials — illegal removal from state registration, raider seizures of property, an information blockade, persecution and slander. Parishioners and supporters of the Church were intimidated, dismissed from jobs, and expelled from educational institutions… A whole campaign to discredit His Holiness Patriarch Filaret was launched by the enemies of an independent Ukrainian Church. Most regrettably, this dirty work was organized and carried out by representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine — former members of the UOC of the Kyiv Patriarchate.”

In addition, the representatives of the UOC-KP stated that “in an independent Ukrainian state, there must be a truly autocephalous and independent Ukrainian Orthodox Church.”

Earlier, it was reported that the head of the Odesa Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate, Nikon Hrabliuk, issued a public address to the clergy and laity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, in which he criticized current trends in church life and called for unity with the UOC-KP.
