The Office of the President will not publish a decree on the deprivation of citizenship of the Primate of the UOC

The Office of the President of Ukraine will not publish the decree on the deprivation of citizenship of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine. The institution has not commented on this decision, but it appears that it does not intend to revoke it. This was reported by the BBC.

“The decree on deprivation of citizenship was signed by President Zelensky, the SBU press service reported. The Office of the President acknowledges the existence of such a decree, but will not publish it,” — the media reported.

Earlier, Vyacheslav Likhachev, an expert at the Center for Civil Liberties, commented on the situation with the deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine. The human rights activist noted that in the case of the Primate of the UOC, the deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship is being used exclusively for political purposes. Moreover, if this argument is the only one that the state can offer to society, it means that in reality they have nothing else against Metropolitan Onufriy.
