Hearings continue in Cherkasy court in case against Metropolitan Feodosy

On July 8, 2025, the Sosnovsky District Court of Cherkasy held a regular hearing in the case brought against the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv. During the hearing, the prosecution demanded that the bishop’s preventive measure be extended. This was reported by Suspilne.Cherkasy.
“Due to the fact that the preventive measure expires, we consider it necessary to extend it. The risks that were identified and voiced at previous meetings remain. Feodosiy may influence witnesses, as well as continue to commit the crimes of which he is accused,” said prosecutor Vadym Kolomiets.
In turn, the court, after a deliberation room, decided to extend the measure of restraint for Metropolitan Theodosius in the form of a personal commitment to fulfill his duties for a period of two months – until September 8.
The bishop was assigned the following duties:
- report any changes in his contact phone number;
- arrive in court on time;
- report any changes in his place of residence;
- avoid any contact with witnesses in the case.
As reported, on June 4, 2025, the Dnipro Court of Appeal refused to satisfy the complaints of the lawyers of Metropolitan Arseny of Sviatohirsk against the decision of the Sloviansk City Court to extend his detention. The bishop has been in the Dnipro pre-trial detention center since April 25, 2024, and his arrest has been extended until the end of July this year.
