Metropolitan Sergiy: "Unity in Prayer with His Beatitude is a Testament to Our Oneness in Christ"

Metropolitan of Ternopil and Kremenets Sergiy commented on the expression of love and support from the faithful towards His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy. The bishop’s words were published on the UOJ channel.

«I believe the answer is that the people love, the people reach out, and the people ask His Beatitude for holy prayers,» said the hierarch.

According to the bishop, it is through prayer that the faithful unite not only with God but also with one another, with the Primate, and with the entire Church.

«This unity of the flock in prayer, in prayer with His Beatitude, is a human impulse, a request, a hope for his prayers. It testifies that we are one in Christ — through His Beatitude, through his ministry,» emphasized Metropolitan Sergiy.

Earlier, we reported that the hierarch of the UOC, Metropolitan Feodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv, recorded a video address in support of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine. The archbishop noted that, like other bishops of the Church, he cannot support the recently published Appeal of the UOC hierarchs to Volodymyr Zelensky, requesting the restoration of the Primate’s Ukrainian citizenship due to disagreement with the form and certain points of the text. However, Metropolitan Feodosiy expressed his personal support for His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy and assured that in the event of the Primate’s deportation, he and his like-minded colleagues will do everything to prevent anyone in Ukraine from imposing the election of a new head of the Church.
