Phanar Hierarch Meets with Pope Leo XIV as Part of Inter-Church Dialogue

Archbishop Elpidophoros of America held a meeting with Pope Leo XIV. The event took place during a pilgrimage that includes visits to Rome, Constantinople, and Nicaea. The meeting was reported by Orthodox Times.
Church representatives described the encounter as “an important step in the ongoing dialogue and the deepening of relations between the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches.”
“May this meeting be the dawn of that blessed and bright day when future generations, partaking from the same Chalice, will be able to receive the Holy Body and Precious Blood of our Savior and, in love, peace, and unity, glorify Him — the one Lord and Savior of the world,” said Archbishop Elpidophoros.
Earlier, we reported that the head of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America under the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Archbishop Elpidophoros, welcomed the election of Pope Leo XIV, formerly Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, as the head of the Roman Catholic Church, calling it an event of great historical significance. He noted that this is the first time in history that a Pope comes from the United States.
