“Diocesan administrations and monasteries”: DESS publishes list of religious organizations affiliated with the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC

The State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience has published a list of religious organizations directly subordinate to the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The list includes synodal institutions, diocesan administrations, and monasteries founded by the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC, which, in the event of a ban on the UOC KM, will automatically lose their legal status and, as a result, their right to real estate. The list is published on the DESS website.

«The list includes:

  • religious organizations whose leaders, in accordance with the Statute on the Management of the UOC, are members of the Council of Bishops of the UOC, which is convened and headed by the Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine;
  • religious organizations founded by the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC, in accordance with the law and information from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Individual Entrepreneurs, and Public Organizations,» — the DESS website reports.

A detailed review of the document reveals that the list consists of 102 items, which include all diocesan administrations of the UOC, as well as synodal institutions and monasteries.

Earlier, Mykola Kniazhytskyi, a member of the Ukrainian parliament from the European Solidarity party, confirmed that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the scandalous anti-church law No. 3894, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which was adopted, among other things, in order to take away churches from the UOC. Knyazhytsky believes that since not all settlements in Ukraine have churches of the OCU, people may not realize that their “priests have ties to Moscow.” Thus, the law banning the UOC is aimed at correcting this.
