“We love our pious Russian-speaking brothers”: the head of the Phanar visited the Russian community in Istanbul

On the day commemorating St. Panteleimon the Great Martyr according to the old calendar, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople visited the Russian-speaking St. Panteleimon community in Istanbul. The head of the Phanar noted that the Patriarchate of Constantinople is the Mother Church for all peoples and “embraces all its children.” This was reported on the official website of the Phanar.

«We love you, our pious Russian-speaking brothers who live in this city, here. We love all our Orthodox brothers, Russian-speaking, Georgian-speaking, Romanian-speaking, Ukrainian-speaking, who live in different cities of our country. The Ecumenical Patriarchate is the Mother Church, and as a mother, it embraces all its children, all Orthodox Christians,» — Patriarch Bartholomew assured.

Earlier, we reported that Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople announced the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Phanar for the joint celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council. The head of Phanar noted that the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Vatican are working together to restore unity.
