The Pope called for an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine

Pope Leo XIV called for an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine. The pontiff believes that world leaders must make efforts to initiate dialogue and a peaceful settlement. He made this statement on August 31, 2025, during the Sunday Angelus prayer.
“I strongly repeat my urgent call for an immediate ceasefire and serious engagement in dialogue. It is time for those responsible to abandon the logic of weapons and choose the path of negotiation and peace with the support of the international community. The voice of weapons must be silenced, while the voice of brotherhood and justice must rise,” – Pope Leo said.
