The Ukrainian Orthodox Church occupies a leading position in terms of the number of parishes in the Khmelnytskyi region

Khmelnytsky regional media are concerned that despite the local authorities’ active campaign to re-register communities and seize the property of the UOC in favor of the OCU, the canonical Church occupies a leading position in the region. Moreover, the Khmelnytsky region ranks fourth in Ukraine in terms of the number of religious communities of the UOC. This was reported by Bogdan.news.
According to the publication, according to the latest statistics, the Khmelnytsky region ranks fourth in Ukraine in terms of the number of communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. According to the map provided in the publication, there are 621 religious communities of the canonical Church in the region, which consists of three dioceses of the UOC. It is noted that this situation persists even though, according to official data, more than 300 communities of the UOC have been re-registered in the OCU in the region.
At the same time, it is difficult to track the situation with the so-called “transitions to the OCU” in the Khmelnytsky region. Due to conflicting data published in various sources, it is sometimes indicated that the number of OCU communities, due to the seizure of UOC churches, is still greater.
