TRC officers detained a bishop of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

On September 2, 2025, in the Rivne region, employees of the TRC subjected Bishop Seraphim (Kadubyansky) of Novovorontsov, a hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, to forced mobilization. Along with the bishop, his assistant, Hieromonk Gabriel (Kinaschuk), was also detained. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

«On September 2, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., at a checkpoint in the village of Shepetyn, near the border between Ternopil and Rivne regions, the vicar of the Kherson diocese, Bishop Seraphim of Novovorontsov (born Vasily Kadubyansky on August 1, 1976) and the cleric of the Novovorontsov vicariate, Hieromonk Gabriel, were detained. Bishop Seraphim and Hieromonk Gabriel were taken to the Kremenets TRC, where they spent the night. Today, September 3, at 1:00 p.m., the hierarch and priest were taken to the Rivne Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, from where they are to be sent to the training ground,» — the press service of the UOC notes.

We will remind you that on August 25, 2025, employees of the Ternopil Regional Administration of the Territorial Center for Recruitment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine subjected the cleric of the Kremenchug Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Bogdan Matvienko, to forced mobilization. The clergyman participated in the Cross Procession of believers of the UOC from Kamianets-Podilskyi to the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra.
